Brown Director of Community Planning Rezoning Application No. 32/86 2340 and 2348 Atkins RECOMMENDATION: That City Council direct the Clerk's Office to prepare a bylaw rezoning Lot 8, Lots 19, 2Q and 21 of DL 289 Pian 2138 NWLD from RS-1 to RM-4, COMMENTS: This application is to develop an apartment building in the Shaughnessy Corridor area. This application is in the area designated Phase | Apartment in the Official Community Plan, Kelly Avenue north to Wilson Avenue. Design of the building proposa! utilizes a sunken entry area and parking level. By using this approach the builder has not had to go to the expense of constructing underground parking. Benefits of this design approach, are that the building is not so expensive that it can not be constructed and that it provides a greater feeling of security for residents than underground parking. Exterior design of the building uses a number of corners and different heights to break up the facade. Unifying elements tying the building together are two vertical columns on either side of the entrance. An interesting feature of this building is that it does not have interior corridors with suites on both sides.
