That the water and sewerage works proposed for the Trenton/Holland area be approved. That the estimated cost of the proposed works and the Engineering Consultant Fees in the amount of $460,000 and $40,000 respectively be funded from the Tax Sale Reserve Account. That Assoclated Engineering Services (B.C.) Ltd. continue as the Engineering Consultant responsible for the tender preparation, project inspection and contract administration on this project. Background and Comments: At the Council In-Committee meeting of January 4, 1388 Council approved cne extension of water and sewerage works to service the Trenton/Holland area. This approval was subject to the sale of the City properties in this area which a developer had expressed an interest in. Shortly after Council's conditional approvai =o extend services to this area the sale of the City properties collapsed. The City =ngineer was instructed to suspend this project pending further instructions. In reviewing our records, the City Treasurer recently noted that 3 provincial grant previously approved for this project in 1986 in the amount of $57,500 is due to expire. This information prompted the Public Works Committee to reconsider this project. In view of the current market conditions and the availability of the provincial grant the Committee felt that it would be in the best interest of the City to proceed with the vroposed works as soon as possible. Since Associated Engineering Services (8.C.) Ltd. designed the sanitary sewerage works the Committee felt that it would be logical to retain them for the remaining project management work. Cont'd...2
