October 10th, 1978. From the City Engineer, October 4th, 1978 advising of the cost of City Eng., Oct. 4/78 re Coq. R. Footbridge... ‘approximately $13,500.00 and the cost of providing street lighting of approximately providing walkways to the proposed footbridge over the Coquitlam River of $10,000.00, if the «riring was provided by others, and the request from the Provincial Government that the City of Port Coquitlam supply heads for the street lights and assume ail responsibility for maintenance of the proposed ‘Coquitiam River crossing. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as advised by the City Engineer, October 4th, 1978 the cost of $13,500.00 to provide walkways to the proposed footbridge over the Coquitlam River and the cost of providing street lighting ait. a cost of approximately $10,000.00, be approved; THAT the request from the Provincial Government that the City of Port Coquitlam supply heads for the street lights be similarly approved; AND THAT the City of Port Coquitlam assume ail responsibility for maintenance of the proposed Coquitlam River footbridge after its construction is completed. Carried. Pricr to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Ranger asked that the bridge be redesigned to ensure safety and ease of maintenance. Discussion then ensued. Alderman Laking advised the meeting that Fred West would be doing the wiring for the street lighting and Alderman Thompson asked that a letter be sent to Fred West to express Council's appreciation for the work he proposes to do. Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That Council's appreciation be expressed to Mr. Fred West for the work and materials he proposes to donate for the street lighting for the proposed footbridge across the Coquitlam River. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution a brief discussion ensued.
