Nacht, representing the Friends of the Library, stated she felt this could best be done when a per- manent facility is established. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That a firm decision concerning the establishment of the City's new library facility in the Shaughnessy Mall building be withheld until March Ist, 1976, pending the outcome of Richmond's book situation.Withdrawn. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed resolution, a discussion ensued and Mayor Campbell stated his concern as to an alternate location if the facility in the Shaughnessy Mall is not leased for library purposes. Alderman Keryluk advised that the Director had given assurance that he would do his utmost to provide the City's expanded facility with an ample supply of books. | Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the signing of the Agreement with Horner Developments Ltd. with respect to leasing accommodation for an expanded library facility in the Shaughnessy Mall building be held in abeyance pending in~depth discussions on the City's total budget. Defeated. Aldermen Laking, Mabbett, and Traboulay voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed resolution, steted that as the motion would accomplish the same result as the one he had made previously, he would withdraw his and follow that made by Alderman Laking. Alderman Thompson stated his view that the motion is unnc” essary in view of the fact that the plans have not been received and the agreement is not ready for Signing.
