Make a reciprocal deal with the City and turn to each other for help. ee - 3. Completely consolidate the Fire Departments to provide one fire service. It was agreed by the Committee that we enter into reciprocal arrangements for fire protection as quickly as possible in order to provide fire protec- tion for the northeast sector of Coquitlam and to improve service to the portions of the City of Port Coquitlam lying west of the Coquitlam River. The following recommendations were made: 1. That we recommend to beth Councils that we enter into a reciprocal arrangement for fire protection so that the City Fire Department wiil protect the northeast end of Coquitlam and Coquitlam will protect the property west of the Coquitlam River and that the City Council be urged to move with all haste in purchasing the property on Coast Meridian and construct a fire hall on this site as soon as possible. 2. That we recommend to both Councils that a Committee composed of Chief : Wingrove and Chief Falcon with powers to add, be instructed to prepare - a study of the consolidation of fire departments in Port Coquitlam and the District of Coquitlam for presentation te both Councils by April Ist, 1974. 3. That no present menver of either Fire Department will suffer any loss of wages as a result of reorganization. LDP:da
