Rirk, City Administrator MEMORANDUM FROM: K. SUBJECT: May Janna Taylor, Parks A Recreation Director Day Float Backnround and Comments: decision has to be made, by City Council, as to the level of float design required for the 75th birthday. Presently $ 7,000 has been put into the budget the float. Of the $ 7,000, a certain amount is required to for bring the float up to safety standards; (at this time not fully determined to what this will cost). are to build and design the asfloat in house, we will then haveIf towe pay a float designer, ($ 1, 000-$ 2, 000), plus decorating material. Eow the float is decorated will also be etermined by the amount of children that you want on float; ii'ou wish all 30, (flower girls, princesses and the the two queens). The decorations, for the float, will be less oomplicated if we have a large number of children on the float. If we are to have the float prepared the cost would start at $ 15,000, (this would beprofessionally addition to bringing the chassis up to safety standards) and incould go as high as $ 60, 000 depending on what is required. It is essential that Council give the staff a direction as to thei.r wishes so that we can start immediately with the float. The other area that requires a decision is the n b f d th e f'oat I will be entered into. „Last year the float into the Pitt Meadows and Coquitlam par ade. The th was entered th at might be of interest, due to the 75th bir thday, ar e thed Maple Ridge Festival, P.N.E. and White Rock; however it should be noted that if we go into more than two par ades our budget would have to be increased.
