Thad to. leave my home, ‘my’ family and friends. in Greenville, as there is no ~ kidney dialysis machine in the Nass Valley. The worse thing about this ~ is not the trip to the hospital. It is the time it takes to. get this done.. Whenever | ask for any-. ‘thing, they act. like they - don’t hear or see me. Last week, I was very cold while doing the dialysis. _. Lasked if they would tum.on . ‘the heat, and told them that'T was cold. They did not even “bother to acknowledge that I o spoke. » They acted as if I was not even there. I might have spoken to the wall. I get this treatment on a regular basis. I wish I could stop going there. If it weren’t for my — health, I wouldn’ ‘t go. My other friends tell me - ‘the same thing. I could tell you many more incidents of this treatment. Even though no one yells at me‘or throw stones at ‘me, this treatment is almost . worse. It: makes.me feel. like I am non existent. I wish to add my tribute to Vesta Douglas as I taught with her at Clarence Michiel Elementary School back in 1970s. _ She was always an inspiartion toall of her colleagues and was so involved: with the local affairs in Terrace - that she was awarded the frredom of the city. "Asa member of the Terrace Little Theatre during _ my time in Terrace I wrote a skit in honour. of Ves- ta which was performed by some of our group in the Skeena Mall. After leaving Clatence Michiel staff I -was for a great number of years a member of the Up- lands Elementary staff and very pleased to see that they sang at the memorial.
