We will do this for every one of them for eight years, and they don’t even have to graduate! We provide special. training - and opportunities for them to find employment. We give them preference in government posi- tions over non-Indians. The notice claims that the goernment hauls away their natural resources by truck and rail, leaving. them with no economic opportunity. However, it doesn’t describe the jeopardy the resources are in, in the hands of the Indians. They do not fish and hunt and log on- ly enough to sustain their own families. They devastate. ‘The notice doesn’t describe “how thé Inidiaris speaf then throw back hundreds of now in- jured and dying fish every day as they swim towards their spawning grounds through the Moricetown canyon. The notice doesn’t say it is legal for an In- dian to sell fish caught on a This game playing must stop Some natives are starting to play games on us, They have lots of laughs, giggles and fun. Natives immigrated years ago from Asia, scientists tell us, and we immigrated mainly from Europe. So what is the dif- ference? Nobody owns a country, only God does and He wants us to share it in brotherly love. Our natives were successful so far in their rebellion against the land claims : rey Hwy16 near Smithers several weeks a port. It has since been removed, An unjustified picture resérve toa person, but it is il- legal for that person to buy the fish from the Indian. These reasons are only some that made me feel so ill after reading the notice handed to me the other day. They may not be documented, but they are cer- tainly not rumours, Many may argue that we have to consider the needs of the Indian society to retain their heritage: This may be a valid point, but it is crystal clear that most Indians couldn’t care less about their cultural heritage. But if they could play with our emotions, wow, would it be - a powerful excuse to get everything for nothing, And that is what they are doing. Life today is just too good for them, and it keeps getting better. My message to the Indians is smarten up and get into the twentieth century with the rest of the developed world, or else go back to'living in teepees and trapping on snowshoes. You can't have the best of both worlds. Nobody can; if you try, you are going to cause a civil war, J. Bolster Smithers, B.C. governments we chose, and that makes them smell more money and encourages them to become more bold and aggressive under the leadership of their whité Marnist friends who pretend to sympathize with their cause, but who are really just promoting their own leftist agenda of creating unrest, anarchy and in- stability. It is the fruit of years of red propaganda by teachers in our What's happening is Dear Sir: The public should be made as many people doubtless already are — that the native land claims question is. being exploited and or- chestrated from a central source by people with ulterior motives that have little to do with the merits of the claims themselves. When our native peoples are encouraged to believe that the whites are their enemies, and . White people are led to believe that our native population has become a threat to them, not: only is a vicious falshood being perpetrated, but one can see at wark the age-old tactic of "divide and conquer.” ; “A small group of individuals , even though, they are in control ‘. of the money supply and the - Mass media, cannot gain-con- tral of a large population unless they can also sow division and ‘ confusion among the populace. . Unless we are careful, therefor, and refuse to allow ‘Ourselves to be blinded by smoke and mirrors, both white and Indian alike may one day discover that they are in, the Same trap together. | . These -same. tactics, with. : variations, have ‘been used _- Many times in the past — . “always for the same purpose. - ‘and with. the same results,” Those: who have become com’ rupted by the excessive wealth or power they already possess have fallen into the grip of a lust, and seek to. gain more of both by any means they can devise. The horrors’ of such ideological monstrosities as Naziism and Communism that have cast a pall of darkness over most of the 20th Century had their birthplace in the corporate boardrooms and counting houses of western financial centers {sce ‘‘Wall Street and the Rise of Hitler’? and ‘‘Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution” by Anthony Sut- ton.) - But the actual founders of these diabolical systems, and their ideological successors, are still alive and well, . The public sould particularly beware ‘Of the information pro- vided’ by the‘ mass media in those situations where passions can become inflamed. As far as I am concerned there is nothing to claim. The ‘war between cowboys and In- dians ended some 100 years ago. If ‘they insist on getting all of Canada back, we must cut them off from any form of social assistance, No more hospitals, no more doctors, no more cars, no more television, no more diabolical ly aroused by the controlled media on the land claims issue that bloodshed eventually results, this will provide the pretext desired by those in the center of the web to expand their call for fun registration and confiscation. With guns exclusively in the hands of the police and the military — both of which are controlled by those in the center of the web — as they were under the Nazis, and still are under the Communists, no effective resistance from an unarmed populace need be anticipated against those who have or- chesirated the entire affair. At this point, nothing is to be gained =-- and much could be lost — by people attempting to take the law into their own hands, through obstructing the highways or other means. And it is a deceptive tactic to pretend that only the natives have a concern about the proper use and preservation of our forests and other natural resources. : This is an exploitation of racism by.those who pretend to oppose it, since both white and Indian atike are to be found on both sides of the logging and conservation issues. Eric Brorup, Terrace, B.C, Kuwait Dear Sir: As a Terrace resident and Iraqi born, I want to talk about the invasion by Iraq of Kuwait, not to justify the ac- tion but to share informa- tion. Kuwait was a province of Iraq. They are the same peo- ple, depending upon fishing before the discovery of ail by British companies. Iraq was called Mesopoiamia, one of the early civilizations dating back to 7,000 years ago. After the First World War, the British interfered to create Iraq from a remnant of the Ottoman empire. It holds oil reserves of some 100 billion barrels. The Iran-Iraq war halted exports through Syria and the Persian Gulf. Construc- tion of proposed pipelines through Saudi Arabia, Jor- dan and Turkey helped assure the flow of oil abroad but Iraq needed a strategic poiint to stop the Iran inva- sion in the future and the best point is Bobian Island, which belongs to Kuwait. Iraq tried to buy the island to help the Gulf states from Iran invasions and. secure south Iraq from the Persians, Kuwait sold oil cheaply, which affected the price of oil in Iraq and its economy which needed a lot of effort cont'd A6 About letters The Terrace Standard welcomes letters to the editor on all topics, All letters must be signed and carry an ad- dress and local telephone number.
