Hes $2.00 . 1.00 “a “oo Sir Henry at Vancouver Sir Henry Thornton has been to Vancouver and has received many delegationg and heard many claims as to why Vancouver and every other point in the south should be made the only point on the Canadian National -Rail- ways. Some even went so far as to ask for the removal of ad- vantages possessed by the north to the south. The press of the south vied one with the other to peddle to and of Canada’s new railway chief. They used the same old stuff they have used to minor politicians for-years. But Sir Henry is some little peddler himself. He knew the weak spot in the armor of the southern eitizens, yiz., their vanity. The presi- dent's speeches were roundly ap plauded up to this point. But then he passed along some of his own ideas, viz., sectionalism must be sacrificed for the good of the whole system and of the Dominion. Sir Henry promised Vancouver nothing definite, ex- cept that the station grounds would be cleaned up and that the city park board would be allowed to plant trees and ‘grass. At that Vancouver may get a lot of things which were originally =) intended for the north, and it | (Sty p your ov fit b nooTiepn TRADING 6 s50. EDMONTON. OM ALTA. Lifhest Pryces Baio ce B.
