THE CORPORATION OF THE de ae CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM JUL 27 1992 B.R. Kirk DATE: July 23, 1992 City Administrator LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engincer SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS - COAST MERIDIAN ROAD AND BIRCHLAND AVENUE (Public Works Conumitice Meeting of Jaly 21, 1992) That Council approve the paving of ti: shoulder and the widening of the pavement on the, west side of Coast Meridian Road from 2919 to 2935 Coast Meridian Road at an estimated cost of $2,450, That Council allocate $2,450 from the Special Public Works Capital Reserve Fund for this purpose. The Public Works Committee at the July 21, 1992 Committee meeting considered a petition from residents along Coast Meridian Road dated May 7, {992 requesting that the City pave a portion of the west side of Coast Meridian Road between Westminster Avenue and Coquitlam Avenue. The Public Works Committee noted that south bound vehicles on Coast Meridian Road pass on the right to avoid cars waiting to make a left hand turn onto Birchland from Coast Meridian Road. As a result of the heavy vehicle traffic on the shoulder, potholes are formed and the City is continually grading the shoulder. It is therefore recommended that the shoulder on the west side of Coast Meridian Read near Birchtand Avenue be paved to a width of approximately 2.5 metres at an estimated cost of $2,450. =f fa4 “ind LR.
