re: Leigh Elementary Playsround Equipment

The Parks & Recreation Comnittee understands that the parents group
at Leigh Elementary School are most anxious to get funding to
upgrade the existing playgrcund equipment for the students at the
elementary school. We recognize the importance of play for the
children and applaud the efforts of the parents at the school.

It is the committee's understanding, from School District #43 staff,
that no formal approach has been made to the Schoolboard for
possible funding of the proposed upgrading of playground equipment.
Furthermore, the Committee is of the understanding that school
trustees were not aware of the issue, other than what they have read
in the newspaper. Therefore the committee feels that your group
needs to first touch base with the Schooltoard before any further
discussions take place with the Parks & Recreation Committee. Once
this has been done the Committee would be prepared to meet with you.
