RECOMMENDATION:

That the concept of a automated voting and election tallying
System -proposed by The Corporation of the District of Burnaby
letter of October 6th, 1983 be approved in ‘principle.

The letter: mentioned.in the recommendation above and the.
attachments to that letter follow this memorandum. . .

We have viewed the automated voting system. proposed by Burnaby
and would certainly Support its use in the City. As with.
anything, it will take a bit of getting used to but the
advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. oO ;

In informal. discussions with. the Burnaby Clerk's Office we

learned that Burnaby would be quite ameniable to other

municipalities using all or a portion. of the equipment

Purchased by Burnaby (at a reasonable cost) and we have. also.
established that the District of Coquittam has the necessary...
card sorting equipment that we could utilize.
