THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ~ 2D = ITEM II - Continued adjacent to a school. . The Committee recommends that the following roads be designated as truck routes. 1. Shaughnessy Street from Lougheed Highway to Prairie Avenue, 2. Prairie Avenue from Shaughnessy Street to Coast. Meridian Road. 3. Coast Meridian Road from Lougheed Highway to Prairie Avenue. The attached sketch shows the presently approved truck routes as well as the proposed additions. It should be noted that this system provides a basic route for trucks entering the area but will not keep trucks off such streets as Cornwall and Finley. It would also allow Dominion Avenue and Burns Road to continue to be used for any traffic having origin or destination in that area. ITEM IIT Re: STOP Sign on Vincent at Grant The intersection of Vincent Street and Grant Avenue has been a perpetual source of requests for STOP signs. Although it is very rare to have more than one accident per year at the intersection of most residential streets, this particular inter- section had four accidents last year and another three to this point this year. The latest request for STOP signs came from the RCMP. In analysing this intersection to see why there might be a high number of accidents, it appears that one of the pro~ blems is lack of driver awareness thitan intersection exists. When proceeding south on Vincent the intersection is not apparent until you are very close to it. The use of a STOP sign would help to inform drivers of the intersection. The visibility at the intersection is not good cnough to allow a yield Sign to be used. The Committee therefore recommends that STOP signs be erected on Vincent Street north and south of Grant Avenue, Respe tfully submitted, 7 Lt) f weft | [eo Powe. _ POE. Peters, P.
