AUG 8 1977 THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF NORTH VANCOUVER 141 West 14th Street » North Vancouver, B.C. V7M 1H9 * Phone 985-7761 OFFICE’ OF THE CITY CLERK Our File: Citizens Assoc. for Lower Lonsdale July 25th, 1977. Mr. R.A. Freeman, City Clerk, City of Port Coquitlam, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. V3C 2A8 Dear Sir, Re: Lower Lonsdale Waterfront Park - City of North Vancouver Thank you for your letter of July 13th, 1977, in which you advise that your Council requires additional information re-. garding the City's request for designation of a portion of pro- “wincially expropriated waterfront lands for recreational purposes. Your letter did not indicate just what type of additional information was required. As noted in my letter of June 22nd, it has been requested that a portion of lands expropriated by the former Provincial Government be reserved for use by the public as a waterfront park. I am enclosing a plan showing the entire ex- propriated area, outlined in red, which comprises a land area of 16.7 acres; plus a water area of 22.93 acres, for a total of 39.64 acres. This property, incidentally, was expropriated in March of 1974. ‘ The lands which the Council has suggested should be utilized for a recreational purpose are those formerly owned by Ocean Cement, to the west of the newly constructed ferry terminal, and outlined in green on the attached plan. The Ocean Cement lands comprise 4.63 acres of land area. In addition to this, there is a small site of .21 acres, outlined yellow, which was formerly City- owned Lot "Z", at the foot of Mahon Avenue. This would bring the proposed park site to 4.84 acres. ZI trust that the above information will clarify the matter sufficiently to enable your Council to come to a decision with regard to lending its support to the petition of the North Vancouver City Council.
