DRAFT RESOLUTION:

MAY 17 1072

That the following resolution be submitted to the 1976 Convention
of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities:

WHEREAS the Minister of Municipai Affairs, in 1976, transmitted

certain amounts to various municipalities who suffered a financial loss
with the removal of fines as a source of Municipal Revenue;

‘AND WHEREAS the Honourable Minister, in his letter of transmittal

stated that payment of the Grant cannot be construed as an indication

that there will be a continuance of this assistance;

AND WHEREAS it is desirable that these Grants be continued;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Minister of Municipal Affairs

and the Provincial Government be requested to continue payments to those

municipalities who suffered a financial loss with the removal of fines as
