Kitimat Marlins’ 12-year-old
swimming whiz Allison’ Bar-
riscale paced her team to victory
at the Terrace Blueback swim
club’s invitational’ meet at the
Terrace swimming pool Dec. 10
weekend,

Barriscale easily won the ag-_
gregate for her age group as she —
ran up 77 points. She also won
all 11 of her events, and set Ter-
race pool records for each event.

- Barriscale’s effort paced the
Marlins to 946 points overall — —
the best point total of all five
teams at the meet.

The host Bluebacks finished
second in the points race with
679.5. Prince Rupert Rapids -
were third with 515.5, followed
by Prince George Barracudas
with 383 and Masset Eagles with
nine. .

The youngsters smashed a

total of 39 pool records over the —

three-day meet. In addition to

hockey tournament on Dec. 10

Waldron, plus ‘two. from Ken
Lavoie and one each from Norm
Laderoute and Brent Currie.
They started the series with
another. shutout: — 5-0 over
Houston. Waldron had a hat-
trick in this game while Scott
Blanes scored the other two.
*Terrace’s first crack at the
host team-turned out to be a 4-2
win over Smithers. Lavoie paced
the scoring with a pair. Blanes
and David Broek got the others.
Their highest scoring match
came in game three when they
thumped Burns Lake 12-3.
Waldron had seven goals in this
game. Lavoie had two, with
singles going to Broek, Currie
and Jason Dvorak. -

Coming events in sports

The annual Caledonia high
school ‘grads’ basketball tour-
nament is coming up Thursday
and Friday at Cal high. The
series has five games each day,
starting at 2:30 p.m. Two of the
10 games will be played by grad
females and the current Ker-
modes team. -
