It’s something of a letdown to return to Vancouver's never-ending rain. .; Except for our first day in Vie- toria, where (believe it or not) we =, Struck snow we experienced warm, _ beauti- ful weather. Not only the weath- er was warm; there was also the warmth of : the welcome we nb received from Pacific Tribune friends every- everywhere on the Island. We'd like to thank those people Who supplied us with accommoda- tion, and also those superb cooks in Victoria, Lake Cowichan, Camp- bell River, Cumberland, Nanaimo, Port Alberni and Parkswille who provided ‘such wonderful meals. We won’t soon forget the pancakes, homemade bread, steaks, roasts and delicious desserts thrust upon us. Preparations for the 1955 PT financial drive are well underway, and I’m predicting here and now that the Island centres will all go over their proposed targets. Many supporters have already pledged to become Press Builders and Honor Press Builders — but you'll hear all about these people when the drive begins March 15. Tom McEwen and | will be in Powell River March 4-5, and our editor will report on his recent visit to the Soviet Union at a public meeting in Moose Hal! on Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. After that we’ll be on the road again, visiting White Rock, New Westminster and other Fraser Val- ley points. : Rita Whyte PACIFIC TRIBUNE — FEBRUARY 25, 1955 — PAGE 7
