Thank You Dear Sir: ; Tam an educational consul- tant and adjudicator who travels around the province. In a recent visit to Terrace I noticed that one of your busi- ness people, Marilyn Kerr, Chamber of Commerce for her work in fostering the arts in your community, I just had to applaud Terrace Chamber for their far-sighted and progressive attitude in making such an award, In my travels I work in many different places. I can make comparisons of the vari- ous cultures that have devel- oped over time in these respective communities. Some better, some still strug- gling. Tertace, in my view, is blessed with an enlightened outlook towards the arts. Leadership makes. the. dif- ference towards creating a vi- tal culture and arts scene. Ter- race has it. The effort of civic, business, and school authorities, as well as hard- working individuals, has paid off over many years to make Terrace a beacon of artistic activity.- Giving business leadership awards is but one form of this leadership. Well done, Terrace, Dennis Tupman _ 70 Mile House Dear Sir: T would like to thank the person or persons who found me unconscious in my car about 6 p.m. on Saturday, September. 16 in the Safeway parking lot, and arranged to get me to the hospital. When they first moved to old Rema, the trees were huge, remem- bers John. “The stumps were so big you could hide a stationwagan behind one,’” be said. Another feature of the region is frequent flooding. But John says that he has never had any water in his house. He’s also surprised ai how quickly the fields dry up after a flood. John and his wife have three children. Their son Dieter lives on one side of his parents and daughter Anne lives on the olher side. Another son, Juergen, lives in Terrace. They have 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. John says that he never Tegretted the move _ that brought him and his family to old Remo. He says the secret to a long and happy life is to keep busy in hard work. And he lives by those words. He still thins tumips in the field and frequently works in the greenhouses. He often ac- companies his son Dieter to the Farmer’s market, Speaking of the markel, I'd like to remind everyone that there are only three market days left. The last market day is October 28. The Farmer's Market starts every Saturday at9 a.m. in the parking lot across from George Little Park. Lynne Christiansen ts a vendor at the market and a member of the market board.
