DEAR ABBY; The ietler in your column froma 13-year- old clean-cut, religious Utah boy who confessed to having molested young children when he baby-sat sure hit home with me~I am locked up for five years here at the State Hospital in Atascadero, Calif., for just that reason. I noticed you told that kid to go to his local mental health clinfe for help. That advice was the best, Abby, aud I hape he ook it, Lam gelting counseling here, and now [ understand that I have had this sickness that turned me on to little kids ever since I was a liltle kid myself, But I never knew it was a sickness, ] thought 1 was just a rotten pervert. Too bad nobody told me to go to a mental health clinic when I was 15. [ could have saved a lot of kids some bad ex- periences and straightened myself out without having to be locked up in a hospital. FIVE YEARS FOR BAD WAYS DEAR FIVE YEARS: I heard from a surprising number of readers who share your problem. Read on: DEAR ABBY: Thank you for printing that letter from DESPERATE IN UTAH, the boy who confessed to being a child molester. I know his feelings well. I sexuaily abused my own daughters until they became teenagers and had to tell someone. Thank God [ was stopped and made lo get help through a program sponsored by the Family Service and Mental Health Clinic in our community. (It's called “Special Of- fenders.”) Iam now going for weekly counseling sessions with my wife. Our daughters are also getting help they need to help them understand what has happened to them and why, When I started this program I was very much ashamed and didn't realize that there were others suffering from the same sickness) “7 : Most folks don't know that child molesters are victims of a mental illness. We need more than punishment —we need treatment. Thank you for letting me say this. GETTING HELP IN ORE. DEAR GETTING HELP: And thank you fer saying it. DEAR ABBY: What do you do when you are serving a large number of people and your guests take two servings of meat the first time around, never considering whether there will be enough for those at the end of the line? Many times that second piece of meat will be left on their plates—to.be thrown away. Kids aren't the only ones who do this, and.you can't blame thems they've had some wondertful.. teachers in their own fathers. Shall we tell our guests how much meat to take the first time around? Or should we just serve pasta? FEEDING. PIGS IN NORMAL, ILL. DEAR FEEDING: When feeding pigs, don't allow them to help themselyes—SERVE THEM. DEAR ABBY: [ live in a very high-class apartment building. The manager of this building is not doing his job and I think his actions should be reported to the owner of this bullding... srs geht re When l'asKed the manager for the owner's name, he refus- ed to give it to me. He said, “The owner doesn't want to be bothered by any of the tenants; that's why he hired ME!’ How can I find out who the owner is? . NO NAME IN SOUTH BOSTON DEAR NO NAME: Look in your telephone book under COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR (OR ASSESSOR) and call that office. They have a record of who pays taxes on what. The person who pays the property tax of your building is un- doubtedly the owner, Your Individual Horoscope Frances Drake ARIES (Mar. 21 to Apr. 9 TES Don't throw caution to the wind re diet and physical well- being, esp. if traveling.
