CAIRO (AP) -- Workers
renovaling oan ancient
Christian monastery in the
desert north of Cairo
discovered a coffin that
church officials say may
coniain the remains of Julin
the Haptist, the holy man
who Christians believe
baptized Jesus Christ,
“There are lots of badies
buried out there und we have
to be sure,” said Bishop
Samuel, an afficial of the

vestigation of the discovery.
“What. leads the priests to
think it is John the Baptist is
a reference in church
manuscripts which says he
was buried 18 feet fram the
altar.”

Qukarios monastery, 100
kilametres north of Cairo.
