The’ Board of School Trustees believes, as stated in their July 12, 1992 letter to The Honourable Tom Cashore, Minister of the Environment, "that this responsibility is more appropriately a Provincial or Federal responsibility and every dollar spent by school boards storing PCB's is an educational dellar not being spent in the classroom.” While the s storage Facility iS Ministry of Environment approved, the facility is located in a residential neighbourhood. The local residents are very concerned for their health and safeuy and are forwarding a petition regarding the disposal of hazardcus wastes to the Provincial Government This is to advise my Municipal Council fully supports the position of School District No. 69 (Qualicum) that the Provincial Government needs to take responsibi ility for the safe storage of PCB's, and further, we are urging all British Columbia municipalities to forward letters of support to the Provincial Government stressing the urgency of this matter. | | .
