August 25th, 1975 ~a joint letter was submitted from the Principals of Kilmer Elementary, Central Elementary, Hazel Trembath Elementary, Mary Hill Elementary Schools and the Supervisor of P.E. Coquitlam, July 7th, 1975, advising that those schools would not benefit from the use of the new indoor pool, and requesting that the Robert Hope Pool be made available to the students concerned during the 1975-76 school year and in future years for a six week period near the end of the school year. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended in a memorandum from the Recreation Director, . August 22nd, 1975, the school swim program at the Robert Hope Pool be continued for 1976 and that monies be placed in the 1976 Provisional Budget to cover the costs of the program. Carried. Item II: Indoor Pool Admission Rates ~a survey of Lower Mainland indoor pool rates was submitted and the Recreation Director advised that the proposed rates for the City's new indoor pool are in keeping with the recommendation on subsidizing accepted by Council at its May 15th, 1975 meeting; subject to the response received to public swimming. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That as recommended in a memorandum from the Recreation Director, August 22nd, 1975, the following rates for the City's new indoor swimming pool be approved: Adult 15¢ Youth -50¢ Child »35¢ Senior Citizen -35¢ Carried. Alderman Keryluk voted against the resolution. A discussion ensued with respect to the proposed swimming pool rates, and Alderman Keryluk stated his opposition to voting thereon as he had not had enough time to study the report due to its late distribution. Alderman Traboulay inquired whether provision would be made for a family rate, and Alderman Mabbett advised that proposed rates for a family and for a man and wife would be submitted shortly.
