We understand you have received from the Corporation of the Township of Richmond a copy of their letter of 12 January, 1972, to the Honourable Ray Williston concerning B. C. Hydro's plans for a transmission line in the Municipality. We thought you might appreciate additional information on this matter. B. C. Hydro has negotiated with Richmond's elected officials and planners for more than ten years over the route and design of the powerline to he constructed between Arnott Substation in Delta and Kidd ‘No. 2 Substation in Richmond. B. C. Hydro representatives have attended many meetings to answer questions and provide technical information relating to the transmission line. Included were public meetings attended by organized groups and citizens. ; Changes in plans made in response to recommendations made at these meetings have substantially increased the cost of the powerline. These changes include the use of aesthetically designed steel poles instead of the conventional box girder type of tower, a change of route to avoid as far as possible the cutting of birch trees on the periphery of the Nature Park and Lyre Yee
