shop
opens

A NEW shop where. local artists
and craftspeople can display and
sell their work is now open,

The Railway Ave. Community
Arts and Crafts Store is located
on Railway Ave. in space be-
tween Canae and J and G Market-
ing. meer

It replaces the now-closed Red
Raven shop which operated for
several years.

“There was really no place for
lacal artists,”’ says Alfreda Price
who was instrumental in opening
the new place.

“Here we have a minimum
charge and can sell on consign-
ment — between five and 20 per
cent,’” she said.

As of last weck, cight artists
had works on display ranging
from painting to paper to wood
work.

It’s open fram Monday to Sat-
urday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
for the Christmas season and has
ihe potential to be open ycar
round depending upon demand,

That potential includes open-
ings for events such as Mother's
Day and Father's Day, adds
Price.

There’s also room for expan-
sion in the future, she said,
