It was recognized by the Group that a Heavy Rescue Training Program is urgently needed, as there are at Present, no known individuals trained in heavy rescue in the Lower Mainland, (A Soak sete The development of a Heavy Rescue Training Program would make available the ° training needed for individuals to obtain the expertise to effectively deal with emergency situations involving a major collapse of a structure where tunnelling or extrication js required. The benefits of this type of : training program would be Province-wide, particularly with the increased emphasis on emergency preparedness. It is interesting to note that a heavy rescue training course was Previously offered by the Provincial Emergency Program, but was discontinued approximately 15 years ago.
