Wheeler, Recreation Manager SUBJECT: Operating Costs to Keep Hyde Creek Open During Summer Months seemece ete un pn a nem gt tt a tem em yee SS EP SSR ESS SSS Recommendation: It is recommended that the Parks and Recreation Committee receive this report as information. Aon wm we we oe eR Re wR Purpose/Problem: The purpose of this report is to provide information to the Parks Recreation Committee regarding the astimated cost of keeping Hyde Creek Pool open during the summer months. Background Information: Earlier this month, a petition was forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Committee requesting consideration be given to keeping Hyde Creek Pool open during the summer months. The Committee requested staff to work up a rough cost estimate for keeping this facility open. The attached budget estimate (Net - $13,100) would operate the pool on reduced hours (approx. 60 hrs per week) and would accommodate the needs of fitness swimmers, senior swimmers, and the physically disadvantaged. In addition, the Department would be abie to offer a number of public programs in a controlled environment (weather). A primary consideration has to be whether or not Hyde Creek Pool, with its current amenities, can attract enough participants to justify keeping it open during the summer months.
