SUBJECT: 1984 Water & Sewer Rates.

RECOMMENDATION:

That 1984 Water and Sewer rates be revised to tie in
with the attached rates schedule.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

On advice from Victoria, we have proposed a discount for
prompt payment of these utility bills as opposed to our old system of
charging a penalty. The discount will be 10%.

The proposed rates are 11.1% above those charged in 1983

‘which for those persons who take advantage of the discount, will result
in virtually no rate increase.

The schedules also Propose incorporating the Seniors
Waiver into our rates by-law as a monthly waiver as opposed to an
annual waiver and this should help us admister the waiver.

Attached is a copy of an ad which will be placed in the

local paper prior to final adoption of the by~laws.
