Read DEPARTMENT: Legal YOUR FILE: Administration T.V. CAMERA ~ Justice bullding SUBJECT: OUR FILE: Council ts aware we had a Tong argument. with the ®, C. ML. OP, intending to pursuade tham that T. Vv. monitoring of prisoners WaS auequate as opnosed co the nigh cost of providing civilfan guards, Both the councii of the Gistrict ana the City have PreviGusly approved the macessary exnenditure for the T. Y, moudtoring of priscners. Tre actual installation has now taken place ang some testing of tha unit sas been carried out. It ROW Sppers that the units will nave to be radanloyed to give full “coveragy,. An additional one camera vill be required, This will amount to $1337.92, and Council approval is accordingly ‘sought. .. TU had hoped to leave this item to the final report ts Council, however, it is imperative that it be available for the opening of tha building, There are also two small matters which I would seek Counct! approval of as well. Firstly, door plates for various offices in the buflcing were provided for by way of 4120.00 contract sum. Upon review of the matter Ti appears that the Sigas will actually come to. $433.90, and thus a requirement for an additional $278.00. In examining tais problem I found that there were tuo typas of signs involved. One appears to ba made of a cast aluminum, and costs approximately 25% more than tie plastic signs. I could find no real reasen Way the better looking sign should be installed in tae basement areas, but I do think that on the upper floor it is worth while and recommend that the metal Stgns be installed. The last item for which Ut need approval is an additional $450.00 for tne landscase contractor, Council may recall that We ran into a drainage problem On one side of the building which required the tnstallation of a considerable portion of drainage tite. The contractor nas now run into the same problem along tne front of the bufiding and it will take approximately $450.00 to rectify this problem, t is fairly urgent that the Contractor proceed immediately and I have already directed that he do the work, and seek Council] ratification accordingly.
