Special emphasis was on cenumics and temples and adobe architec- ture and the huge term-cotta horses. Sally will share herexperiences with us through a slide and talk presentation. NOMINEES FOR THE BOARD Jim Stamper Jim attended Langara Community Col- lege where he received the Excellence in Design award. His poster design was cho- sen, ic represent the 97 grad show and he was honored by Don Hutchinson with a gift for his commitment to the student community. After, he transferred to Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design where he is studying for a Diploma. He plans to continue tus studies to complete a BFA. He chairs the Annual Student Sale Com- millecand has been imstrumental inchang- ing the sale intoits new all institute format. Jim hopes to get involved in the Guild to help muse awareness of the British Colum- bia ceramic community both locally and internationally. Maggi Kneer Maggi has been involved with clay for over twenty years. She moved to Vancou- ver from Hong Kong in 1991. This spring she graduates from the Emily Carr Insti- wie af Art and Design. While in Hong Kong, she chaired the Craft Guild for two years where she was responsible for work- shops, exhibitions andestablishing the first Christmas Crafl Market. On the Board of lhe Seymour Art Gallery, Maggi helped organize the arlist-run co-operative gilt shop as a fundraiser and showcase for local artists, Mare recently, she assisted in coordinating the volunteers for the Cana- dian Clay Symposium. She is interested in furthering the social side of the Potters Guild, and creating more opportunities for potters to meel, network, and share meas. Louis de la Torre Lous hiss beer an acoouniant and business consultant for the last few years. Previ- ously he was a commercial banker, He hopes that the business expenences he brings to the Board will lead to continued efficrencres and cost savings in the run- ning of the Guild and the Gallery. Aca- demically, Lowis holds a Masters in Boo- nomics and a Bachelors in Jouwmalism. He is aloverof the arts, albeita “poor” patron of the arts.
