ANNUAL SALE Only 59 days left till Christmas: In the rush to get those pots made, don't forget to send in your application to Cherie. She's waitin with baited breath. AlSo waiting are the several thousands (literally!) of prospective customers who look forward to your annual sale at Robson Square. Qur increased advertising budget this vear (look for the ad in the Vancouver Magazine in November) should mean a wider public, including the visitors in downtown hotels, is reached. Qur major concern is that the Guild's annual sale represents as many of its member potters and ceramic artists as possible. The Guild is only as strong as the involvement of all its members. Not that far behind is our yearly attempt to ensure there are enough staff on the sale floor to keep things running well. I believe people enjoy their participation in the sale, once under way. This year we are offering an additional incentive to getting involved by paying an hourly sum to those persons willing to take on additional hours to their eight volunteer hours. The availability of those paid additional hours will be determined by the number of participants who are willing to pay for someone to take over their volunteer time. The rate established js $5.00 an hour. Therefore, if you decide you cannot afford to give 8 hours to set uo or man the sale, you wil] be expected to pay $40.00, which money will be paid to someone who is will- ing! I honestly hope we don't end up with too much book work to keep track of all the exchanges. Don't forget that the commission paid to the Guiid for work sold at the sale has dropped to HS from 35% of several previous years. In any case, the organizers of this sale look forward to your in- volvement. The theme display is developing well, and a promising number of merchants are willing to be involved in providing materials for the special displays.
