Roger Harris, the region’s B.C. Baseball rep, is calling for players to. try out for a - northwest team to go to the 2006 B.C. summer. games. The games are a highly competitive tournament _ between eight teams from -Yarious provincial regions. . They’ happen every second year. ‘and this year are in Ka- mloops July 27-30, “7 “Tes a tremendous event,” Harris said. “The games are’ an-excellent opportunity for individuals event at the provincial level. They are the highest level of | competition you'll find. i the sport in B.C.”. Many scouts will be there and almost all the costs are covered, so no fundraising is necessary, he added. 7 ‘Harris is hoping the B.C. * summer games will help re- new interest in baseball and get the Terrace league back in action next year. In the 1920's, stocks of Atlantic salm- on from Miramichi River were*released into the lake. Another stocking effort was made in 1940, when 25,000 eyed egg rainbow trout from Pinantan Lake were released. These are the only stocking records. for Lakelse -Lake, and’ current species come from naturally reproducing stocks. There is a’ well developed — pro- vincial’ park _- on the north . and. eastern Lakelse _ fi Lake. The park consists of. three ‘ separate sections— Gruchy’s Beach, Lakelse Lake Picnic Area, and Furlong Bay Campground.
