THIS YOUNG moose was happily pruning the trees in Dick Green's Eby St.
back yard, beside Parkside Elementary School last Thursday. The same critter
has also been spotted frequently on the bench in the Halliwell area.

_ Food demand dips

DEMAND DROPPED slightly at the Ter-
race Churches Food Bank last week in what
is turning out to be a record year of people
needing food.

The bank distributed 628 bags of food,
enough for approximately 2,000 people,
said food bank co-ordinator Kathy Miller.

That was down from the 689 bags distrib-
uted in February but still much higher than
historical levels.

The’ food bank operates one week each
month during the falt and winter. It opened
in October Jast year, a month earlier than
normal,

Although March has been traditionally
the last month for a distribution, organizers
treet early in April to see if they’ll hold one
that mouth.

“We'll take a look at our food stuffs and

finances and make a decision then,” said
Miller.

This month’s distribulion was bolstered
by a TV 7 campaign in which 41 businesses
participated by putting out collection bins
and a Hike for Hunger campaign by the lo-
eal Scouting and Guiding movement.

‘The response was tremendous and it
helped outa great deal,” said Miller,

In the meantime, the food bank continues
its search for a new home.

The Walsh Ave, building in which it is
now housed is for sale and Miller says there
is an outstanding offer.
