THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: . Kirk, March 17, 1983 ity Administrator FROM: -E. Peters., P. Eng., Ci Engineer SUBJECT: Estimate for Removal of Royal Bank Building - Public Works Committee, Tuesday, March 15th, 1983 RECOMMENDATLON: _ That Council receive this report for information and the estimated cost for removal of the Royal Bank Building and widening of. the road be cons idered_ in the 1984 Provisional Budget. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: As a result of delegations from the merchants, Council asked the Public Works Committee to consider the cost of removing the Royal Bank Building. We have. received a firm quotation. from a contractor in the .amount of $3,000 for demolition and removal of the old building. In addition to that, we estimate that the cost of widening Elgin Avenue is about $95,000 including the provision of a new watermain which. is necessary prior to the road being repaved. Funds ‘are not available in. the 1983 budget. The Committee sees no necessity for the widening of Elain Avenue in 1983 in any. case. .It is anticipated that the. Legion construction will result in’ the closure of the ramp from ‘Kingsway. to Shaughnessy and this in itself will _improve the traffic flow cat the intersection. F.E.
