V3C 2A8 Dear Sir: Re: dustice Building Alterations Communications Centre IT refer to the letter received from your City Clerk dated November 18, 1981 and to the apparent approval given by your Council to share in the cost up to approximately $21,000 of a total $60,000 cost of the above noted alterations. I have, for some time, been warking with the architect who has called for and received proposals for carrying out the work. Hard negotiations have been pursued and despite the efforts, it is necessary to obtain approval for an increase in the appropriation to ensure completion. I.enclose herewith a copy of the letter dated February 19, 1982 received from Carlberg Jackson Partners, Architects. Today I met with Mr. Ken Webber of the architectural firm and with Mr. Ken Funk, who would be acting on behalf of the construction managers. They have indicated to me that it is critical that the mechanical work get under way and I have authorized that. aspect of the work only tc proceed. A copy cf my instruction and authority is contained in my letter to the architect dated February 19, 1982, a copy of which is attached. The purpose of this letter is to seek the authority ef the City of Port Coquitlam to share in the higher amount -now estimated for the construction which, for appropriation estimates, [ request be set at 365,000 to allow some leeway RECOMMENDATION: That the increase to the cost of the Justice Building Alterations Communications Centre in the amount of approximately $3,090 w DLR, BR.
