Mr. Wenman referred to the fact that there will be at least 200,000 new immigrants come to Canada this year, and that over 30% will probably be residing in the Greater Vancouver area, so that local Councils must provide services and the Provincial Government must encourage housing programs. Mr. Wenman referred to the dyking program, and stated te felt that the Federal Government should try to work with the Councils and the Provincial Government in that regard. Mr. Wenman stated he felt the Federal Government should also be looking at severe cutbacks on immigrations to Canada and that this was supported by the remarks made in letters to him from the people in his area. Mr. Wenman also mentioned that the Juvenile Delinquency Act is going to be looked at again, as well as the treatment and care of young offenders. Mr. Wenman stated he appreciated the expression of Council's concern, which he advised he would convey to the Federal Government and in wishing the Council success in meeting challenges in 1975 pledged his co-operation in Ottawa. APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL COMMITTEES AND VARIOUS AREA BOARDS AND COMMITTEES: Mayor Campbell advised that since 1967 the Port Coquitlam Council has used the Committee system, of which, he stated he was a firm believer as it makes the Aldermen work and have a special interest and that changing them each year increases their scope of experience and knowledge in civic affairs.
