Call to Commercial building (smell of smoke) Inhalator calls - 27 patients transported to medical aide Total Calls Siren sounded two (2) times 132 Firenen attended 180 Man hours $315.00 Fircuen's Remuneration $20,125.00 Damages One fireman absent (sickness) $20,125.00 damages to two (2) homes and two (2) cars. $17,500.00 damage to a home caused by a blow back from converted furnace. There wags some delay in calling the Fire Department because the telephone was dead in the burning howe. The fire occurred while the family was eatiil in bed. The occupant tried the phone and finding it dead them proceeded to get his. family out and alco a dog with nine (9) pups. By this time, the neighbors had phoned the Fire Department. Approximately $2,C00.CO damages to another home which started in a child's toy box in his bedroom. Cause unknown but possibly child playing with matches. 5550.00 damages to en old car which haa been rebuilt and customized. Cause electrical short. $75.00 dameges to another car possibly caused from a blow back from the carburettor. Called to a commercial building to investigate a smell of smoke, nothing was found. 27 Inhalator calls. 5 Motor vehicle accidents with 9 people transported to medical aide. 46 home energencies; heart attacks, lady, man and child having trouble breathing, 2 children suffered head cuts from falls, expectant mother in labour pains, 3 patients with gall bladder and stomach pains, man with head injuries caused by a fell and a child in convulsions. Called to a lady who possibly suffered a broken leg from a fall on an icy sidewalk, 4 people with overdoses needing nedical aide transported to hospital. I hod Mr. Criggie charge a contractor for burning tires. We were informed by a city employee that a load of tires vas being delivered to a clearing sight and visited the contractor and advised hime he could not use tires and needed a fire permit to burn. He cane to the Fire Hall for the permit and complained that every other community allowed them to burn tires. I showed him our fire by~law 902 and gave him a permit. Early next morning I noticed black smoke coming up from the sight and on inspection found all the tires burning under the slash piles.
