MONTREAL.—Fresh proof of open organized fascist activity in the prov-
ince of Quebec was seen this week when a meeting called in Quebec City by the
Labor-Progressive Party to nominate a candidate for Quebec East federal con-

Japanese in Manchuria en-
deavor to exercise iron-tight
control over agricultural and
industrial production, con-
sumption of food stuffs and

uals was told by Allied Labor
News this week by two Chi-
nese youths who escaped
from Mukden and recently
arrived in Chungking, AlI-
though Japanese exploitation
of Manchuria has been going
on steadily for 12 years, since
Pearl Harbor it has been
rapidly accelerated.

27 Years

Of Struggle

: TRAIL, B.C._—Climaxing a 27-year-struggle for
union recognition and conditions, International
Union of Mine Mill and Smelter Workers, Local 480,

_has concluded an agreement with Consolidated Min-

ing and Smelting Company which Gives recognition
to the union as the bargaining agency for the work-
ers under the provisions of the Wartime Labor Regu-.
lation Act so long as the union retains its mandate
to act on behalf of the smelter workers. eee

The agreement cancels al| previous agreements,
Practices and customs governing wages, hours of
work, working conditions, bonuses and all general
conditions of employment and opens the way to
abolition of the method of bonus pay structure which
is a feature of Consolidated Mining and Smelting
Company‘s methods in dealing with employees.
