Volun- teers for the local chapter of the Salvation Army will be knocking on doors around town this month. The Salvation Army National Red Shield Ap- peal has begun with a blitz of the district of . Red Shield _ Appeal begins ' TERRACE — have been delivering flyers to inform residents what the National Red Shield Appeal is about. Harker said the Salva- tion Army spends more than the money raised through the Red Shield Appeal giving aid to peo- ple in community. Army operations in Terrace and Kitimat are financed with $9,600 directly from the Red Shield Appeal. Many families are given food, overnight emergency ac- commodations, clothing, emergency transporta- tion, services to families whose homes have been destroyed by fire, transportation costs for battered women, sending men to Harbor Light Centres, a drug and alcohol rehabilita- tion facility in Prince Rupert and Prince George. The Red Shield also helps provide funding for Camp Mountain- view, a camping facility situated six miles west of Houston.
