COUNCIL SEP 17 1979 TO: Mayor and Council September 17th, 1979 FROM: Alderman E.W. Mabbett I have read the report from B.C. Tel in response to our 1978 resolution to U.B.C.M. about the lengthy time it takes to relocate poles. I can fully understand a number of the reasons given by Mr. Carlile of B.C. Tel, however, we also have oux problems in regard to planning and budgetting for new road work, etc. The one thing that does bother us is that they promise action in a certain week and do.not live up to it; and this goes on and on. Last year we had Prairie Avenue in two areas; this year we had Kingsway Avenue tied up for months. This is not good for the businesses or the taxpayers. There is no doubt in my mind that these lengthy delays cost the City a considerable sum of money also. I would recommend that the Public Works Committee discuss this problem further both with B.C. Tel and B.C. Hydro and see if we can come up with a better situation. -: Respectfully submitted, Alderman E.W. Mabbett EWM/dv LATE ITEM RECEIVED AT: ge. am SEP 17 1979
