AWARD OF TENDER MILL AND OVERLAY PROGRAM - VICTORIA
DRIVE AND DORSET AVENUE PROJECTS |

That Council award the Mill and Overlay Tender to Jack Cewe Ltd. for resurfacing of Victoria
Drive from Mars to Cedar and Dorset Ave. from Oxford to Wellington based on the tendered

price of $111,421.85 (including GST). _.

‘Four tender submissions have been received for the following three road mill and overlay

Fraser Avenue - Wellington to Coast Meridian ©

Ag shown on the attached summary the lowest bid for these three projects is from Jack Cewe

Ltd. at a cost of $172,099.75 (including GST). This is higher than 105,082.00 available in the —
existing Mill and Overlay Budget. The main reason for the higher cost is that the milling costs —
have increased over 35% from last year’s prices. | |

- Due to the high tender costs, it is recommended that the reconstruction of Fraser from -
"Wellington to Coast Meridian be deleted from the contract. Victoria Drive is in extremely poor _
condition and Dorset Avenue leads to the new middle school; therefore, these two roads should »

be reconstructed in 1994. The mill and overlay cost for the Victoria Drive and Dorset Avenue.

Jack Cewe Lid. has completed numerous projects for the City in the past and. the work is
satisfactory. I¢ is therefore recommended the Council award the contract for the mili and
overlay for Dorset Avenue from Oxford to Wellington and Victoria Dr. frorn Mars to Cedar to: ~
-: Jack Cewe Ltd. based on the tendered price of $111,421.85 (including GST). The funds for this .
~ work will be allocated from the Public Works Maintenance Budget - $105,082.00 from the Mill
“and Overlay Account and $6,339.85 from the Road Repair Account. oe
