THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ITEM II Re: Traffic Signals at Oxford and Prairie A request had been received from Alderman Keryluk to consider the installation of traftic signals at the above inter- section due to the difficulty of crossing Prairie Avenue from Oxford Street. The Committee considered the traffic counts and accident record in calculating the warrants for a traffic signal. According to the standard calculation for signal warrants, this intersection receives 96-out of a required minimum of 100 pcints required for signals. This means that it is very close to the point where signals could be considered by Council. -This cal- culation takes into consideration the fact that there would bea some traffic which would he diverted to this intersection from other intersections once signals were installed. Costs of a set of traffic signals would be about $30,000. The Committee recommends that signals mot be installed in 1980 due to a high capital budget already plamned for the coming year and due to the fact that the minimum requirements for signals -have not.been met. ITEM ITI co) Re: No Stopping signs on east side of Donald Street A memorandum had heen received from the By-law Officer indicating the difficulty in enforcing the existing No Parking sign on the east side of Donald Street adjacent to the Empire Restaurane. Many of the drivers ticketed claim that they were not parking but simply stopping. Passage through this narrow road is very awkward if any kind of a vehicle is parked near the intersection and particularly if it is a large vehicle such as avan. It was felt that an extension of the vellow curb with No Stopping signs along the narrowest part of ths road from McAllister to about 30 m south would help to eliminate. this problem. The remainder of the street could remain as a No Parking zone as at the present time. The Committee recommends that No Stopping At Any Time be implemented along the éast Side of Donald Street from McAllister Avenue to a point approximately 30 m south.
