The veteran Terrace golfer added number two to his career at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club Sept. 25 when he aced the 166-yard par three fourth hole with a six-iron shot. Second ace at Skeena for Rick Letawski Letawski, playing in a group with his wife Bonnie and three other ladies, made the ‘perfect’ shot — the ball struck the back of the hole on the fly, breaking it and dropping into the hole. Letawski’s first hole-in-one came six years ago when he holed the old number-seven par three, 153-yard-hole. This hole has since been lengthened and turned into a par four. Witnesses to the recent gem were Bonnie Letawski, Brenda DeJong, Helen Williams and Surinder Dhami. Men’s club championship a close one for Malenfant It took a four-extra-hole playoff to declare the men’s club champi- on at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club's annual season- ending tournament on September 23 weekend. The 36-hole event went to Frank Malenfant, who edged former champ Dan Rosengren on the fourth extra hole. They had tied at 150 for the regular round. Overall low net went to Doug Harrington . with 121. Rosengren wound up as champi- onship flight low gross winner. John Yasinchuk was runnerup with a 156. For low net, Greg Broome carded a 136 to win. Tom Sheasby was close behind at 137. First flight gross honours went to Dave Comfort (173) with Ray Johnson placing second (177). For the net side, Joe Sullivan shot a 137 followed by Jim Kellar with 139, In the second flight, low gross went to Marty Gerry with 190. Jim Gale was next with 192. Net . winners were Ron Marhauer (126) and Bill Reynolds (137). Curling season opens this weekend with instruction. .~ Curling operations at the Terrace club begin this weekend with ‘Cur! Canada’ instruction for adult and junior beginners, and for those hoping to improve on their game. These sessions run 4 to 9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Fees are $30 for adults and $15 for youngsters. BCey Meanwhile, free curling will be available daily from Monday the 7th to Friday the 11th. Ice times are 1 to 9 p.m. . Next Wednesday (the 9th) they'll hold a ladies’ potluck din- ner at the club. On Friday the Lith, the first of regular winter league play will start up.
