Eng., FILE: 900-257 City Engineer SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION OF PRAIRIE AVE. - CEDAR TO RAE (Public Works Committee Meeting of June 22, 1993 RECOMMENDATION: 1. That Council award the contract to reconstmict Prairie Avenue from Cedar to Rae to Aggressive Roadbuilders based on the tendered amount of $469,402.31 (including GST). That Council approve the award of the engineering services for contract management, inspections and certifications to N.D. Lea based on a cost of $28,812.96 (including GST). That $535,455.05 be allocated from the Highway Development Cost Charge Fund and that $7,760.22 be allocated from the 1993 Public Works Capital Fund for this purpose. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The City has received six bids for the reconstruction of Prairie Avenue from Cedar to Rae as described in an attached memorandum dated June 22, 1993 from the Pro ject Engineer. This project involves the widening of Prairie Avenue to a four lane road with concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks plus a partial bicycle path. The relocation of utilities and poles is estimated to be $45,000. It is proposed to continue to utilize the consulting engineering services of N.D. Lea Consultants in order to complete this project at a cost of $28,812.96.
