MAR 6 1978 TO FCM Members FROM Glenys Parry, Executive Director DATE March 1, 1978 SUBJECT: FCM MEMBERSHIP FEES: 1978-1979 We attach our invoice for your municipality's fees for membership in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for the 1978-1979 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 1978. During the past year, the Federation has undertaken a number of new initiatives. The Executive Committee is currently preparing a brief on national unity and constitutional reform for presentation to the Task Force on Canadian Unity on March 2. Projects to assess the planning and management capabil- ities of small Canadian municipalities, and to develop bilingual lexicons of standardised municipal technical and administrative terminology are underway with federal government assistance. The Municipal Research Support Program, funded by the Ministry of State for Urban Affairs and administered by the Fed- eration of Canadian Municipalities, is now in its second phase. Grants have been awarded to eighteen innovative researcn projects Gesigned to provide practical and transferable solutions to muni- cipal problems. Our publication, fem FORUM, has been well received and is attracting a growing readership. We expect that the year ahead will be a progressive and busy one for the Federation. We ask for your continued support so that we may assist in achieving the goals of local government in Canada.
