Freeman, City Clerk At the request of Alderman Traboulay the preliminary report of the ‘Commission of Inquiry on Property Assessment and Taxation, July 30th, 1976, was recently distributed to Council members. Alderman Traboulay would like to bring the following recommendation of the Commission to Council's attention and this recommendation is numbered R-1 and appears in paragraph 3.54 on Page 101 of the report: "We believe that the Provincial Government should consider committing itself publicly to paying 75% of the current and capital costs of the Public School System as a whole in British Columbia within a period of 5 years. Equalization grants would continue to be needed so that the share paid by the Provincial Government would continue to vary substantially from School District to School’ District." We believe that Alderman Traboulay intends to move a resolution endorsing the recommendation set out above and instructing that the Clerk so notify the Minister of Municipal Affairs. ALL.)
