Prison university program gives

during the riot and
hostage-taking at British
Columbia Penitentiary in
September. 1976. now is
taking third-year
university courses by
correspondence at Ar-
chambault Federal
Penitentiary here.

praise for the academe

“This school is the only
place in prison where vou
feel some sort of ac-
complishment,”” he said
recently. “You can work
in the machine shop for tO
years but you can never

qualify as a machinist.

You can never get a piece
of paper saving you have
achieved — something.
whereas here you can al

Horval said that “when

College, which was the
first college to offer full-
time, regular college
courses within a
Canadian prison. The
