Alderman Laking commented on the drastic increase in the 1977 Previsional Budget; however, he stated felt that the Council would endeavour to reduce expendi- tures and stiil provide a reasonable level of service. Alderman Laking advised he felt a new Library and some cultural facilities were needed in the City, and that he intended to work diligently towards this end. Alderman Laking then thanked the citizens for their support in the past, and he expressed his appreciation to the City Hall staff for their excellent work.
