L i i i i : H H i Ald. Ranger-re- December 6th, 1976. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Thompson stated that although he was opposed to the principle of using Collective Agreements of other municipalities as a basis on which to bargain, he would support the motion for the sake of maintaining harmony between the City and the Union. Alderman Mabbett stated he was opposed to an employee having the option of being able to go back to his former position if he finds he is unable to perform the duties of a new position, as an employee may be 'bumped' out of work; however, the City Administrator pointed out that the number of positions would be unchanged as the one left by the employee would still have to be filled. To a request from Alderman Ranger, Mayor Campbell then agreed that | quest for report~ ; flood plain ' areas -'Ald.Ranger re |) street names- i Larkspur Ave/ ‘Drive Ald.Ranger re removal of candidates signs after elections i Ald.Ranger re yearly cost | billing (Al d.Laking re a report on the Coquitlam and Pitt River Flood Plains be prepared and circulated to Council for information. Alderman Ranger referred to his comments last week on the confusion existing as to whether a street in the City shouid be known as "Larkspur Drive" or "Larkspur Avenue", and in view of the fact that “Larkspur Drive" is used by the Post Office and for Electoral List purposes, he proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That the City street known as "Larkspur Drive" and "Larkspur Avenue" be identified henceforth only as "Larkspur Drive". Carried. Alderman Ranger referred to the requirement that "lawn signs" used by candidates must be removed on the day following an election, and he then displayed one he had picked up as late as 7:25 this evening that was apparently overlooked after the November 20th, 1976 Election; however, he very solicitously refrained from publicly stating the name of the candidate involved. Aiderman Thompson advised that his supporters, knowing that this term will be his last in public office, wished to retain the signs as prized momentos, and the person from whose property Alderman Ranger had plucked the sign would probably be very angry when he discovers it has been taken. Alderman Ranger referred to the apparent change in procedure by Central Mortgage & Housing Corporation in billing homeowners for yearly increased costs in December rather than in April of the following year as had been the previous practice, and Mayor Campbell advised he would write to Mr. William Teron, the Federal Deputy Minister, in that regard. Alderman Laking referred to the proposed increase in the basic mill increase in mill rate- school taxes rate for school taxes from 32.5 to 37.5, and he proposed the following motion: PEL RTEE Mt a ce TA Pee Lota a CASS
