Rosswood gets ready to turn on
the lights thanks to hydro power

workers by fixing up
bedrooms, a safe room,
washrooms, kitchen and

tion so workers can sec

the facility.

The original plan had been
for area taxpayers to pay
only 30 per cent of the cost
but that was canceled when
the ministry said those
renovations were no longer
tied lo any plan to improve
the kind of psychiatric ser-
vices at the unit,

In turn, those improve-
ments were based on a
“provincial government plan
lo close or reduce the River-
view hospilal in Vancouver
which reats the ~~ most
serious psychiatric patients
from around the province.

Those services were then
to be spread throughout the
province but thal has been

- put on hold pending an
evaluation of two pilot
projects.
