All-Native crown goes to Siksika THE BATTLE of the braves ended in a final showdown with ‘Alberta’s Siksika Nation defeating Musqueam for the, All-Native senior crown in Prince Rupert last week. . Siksika’s Lyle Bruno broke a 96-96 deadlock with 12 seconds left, scoring..the go-ahead basket to win it 100-96. A good early start in the final - by Siksika fell Qét, and Mus- queam built updn 11-point lead by halftime, But Siksika came out blazing and both sides were gunning straight through to the final whistle, Tournament all-star selec- tions included ex-Caledonia Kermode and New Aijyansh player Jackie Brown, In the intermediate ‘division, it was the Nanaimo Mariners beating Metlakatla, Alaska 80-73 in the final. In semi-final action the Mariners barely sur- vived their clash with the Sons of Kincolith, narrowly winning by a single point. The other Nass valley teams and Kitamaat Village teams were eliminated from play in earHer action in both divisions.
